The Best Way To Be A Successful Freelancer

Although freelancing is not particularly new, each day, more and more users join different platforms in hopes of not only make money but also become respectable professionals in fields such as graphic design, writing, and translation, to name just a few.

Whether you are looking to become a freelancer or searching for ways to both improve your skills AND (most importantly) increase your income, there are certain things you need to keep in mind if you want to make the most of any project or task.

On this post, we’ll be giving you some tips to become a more successful freelancer so you can take your profile to the next level. Scroll down to find out!

4 Ways To Be A Successful Freelancer

1. Promote, promote, promote!

Regardless of how advanced of a freelancer you are, you’ll still need to promote your work in order to find recurrent clients. A good way to get your name out there is to use Social Media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to share your gigs, who knows? There could be potential partners and clients among your followers!

If you have a bigger budget, you could also invest in some online ads for Social Media, carefully picking the audience to ensure that your ads will pop up on your ideal clients’ feed so they can contact you afterward.

Furthermore, pages like UpWork and Fiverr allow you to post your gigs on different Social Media sites easily, with just a click, so it shouldn’t take that much time.

2. Create a portfolio

Another great way to promote your work as a freelancer is to create a portfolio on places such as Behance that will make it possible for you to showcase all of your best projects in a cool, creative and organized way.

Having a strong portfolio will also save you a lot of time when new prospects get in touch with you and want to see more of your work since you’ll be just a couple of clicks away from redirecting them to your page.

Make sure that your portfolio is a perfect example of your personality and style!

3. Set a Schedule

Yes, being your own boss sounds (and can be) amazing, but you still need to be responsible and make sure that you meet every deadline and keep your reputation intact.

As a result, it would be very smart for you to set a schedule to work and plan every week ahead, with goals and space for inconveniences that may come out since leaving some room for unplanned events will come in handy at some point.

Try to stick to your working routine as much as you can and don’t forget to set up an office or working space that will make you feel comfortable and motivated during the week (you could also go to a coworking space if you don’t have enough room at home).

4. Keep contracts at hand

Although freelance platforms already set up contracts for you to start working with clients, once you start getting projects independently, it is very important to create your very own contracts to specify every aspect and term of each job.

This way, clients will know exactly what to expect from you and your services. For example, you could write down how many times a client can ask for changes or edits, the expected deadline and whether there will be only one delivery or a number of milestones.

Last but not least, the cost of your work (including taxes) will appear in detail on the contract, so the clients won’t be able to pay less than what they already agreed on and will know if they’re required to pay something in advance.

I often get asked what’s my preferred laptop for Freelancing, Website and Graphic design, I currently use the ASUS FX504 which has been my favorite so far for this kind of work, btw is amazing for gaming, 100% recommended.
